Simply Awesome is located in Richmond Hill, Ontario, and takes pride in its local food production, particularly the creation of gourmet jelly, including its signature Red Pepper Wine Jelly. Made the traditional way, fresh, locally grown sweet red peppers are chopped and blended with crushed red chili peppers. Stirred with white wine, freshly squeezed lemon juice, natural sugar, and fruit pectin, this gourmet jelly produces a medley of flavors that tantalize the taste buds. Each jar can be stored in a cool place for one year unopened; once opened, it should be kept in the refrigerator.
The sharp, intense flavor of Seville oranges is beautifully balanced with the sweetness of sugar to create a refreshingly clear jelly with shreds of bitter peel, perfect for those who enjoy Seville orange marmalade. Beyond spreading, the tart juice of the Seville orange can also be used to craft tangy salad dressings and fabulous sauces that cut through the richness of meat and game. A classic example is the French bigarade, a dark, port-enriched, orange-flavored sauce traditionally served with roast duck, where dessert oranges would be far too sweet.
